I am Excited to foster a classroom where freedom of expression is
allowed to flow. Through hands on lessons and creativity, students will be able
to problem solve and receive a greater awareness of self and their environment.
Example Lessons
Marker Still Life
Students will learn about two artists who create still lifes; Cezanne and Janet Fish. From there, they will learn to create a well balanced composition by looking through a viewfinder focusing on what colors, shapes, and space they see and create. The end product will show an original still life, drawn and colored neatly.
Van Gogh Hatching
Students will be learning about the Impressionistic and Post-Impressionistic Eras with a heavy emphasis on Vincent Van Gogh. They will learn a less restrictive form of expression through exposure to Impressionistic artwork and employment of the hatching drawing technique. They will be asked to create a landscape drawing from either a magazine or outdoor setting.
Ceramic Teapot
This lesson is designed for students to investigate other cultures and their use of tea. It is also a way for them to explore within themselves and recreate something that means a lot to them. They will make connections between how the tea is treasured and how they treasure their own object.
